Since January of 2008, Cornerstone has been in serious lease negotiations with Sylvan Oaks Christian Church.  SOCC wants CCS to move to their campus.  Until recently we were making plans and had every expectation to move the school the middle of June.   

 

Events beyond our control have arisen causing us to plan on remaining in our current location for another 6-12 months.  There has been some neighbor opposition to having another school move into the neighborhood.  Unfortunately, this opposition will end up stretching the Conditional Use Permit process with the City of Citrus Heights from its original 60-90 days to 4-6 months.   

 

In addition, Sylvan Oaks is in the foreclosure process.  Eventually, we may be able to form a housing corporation with another church and/or outside investors to buy the church property ourselves, or we may end up talking with the new church owners about a lease.  However, it will take time to determine if we will be able to pursue a move to Sylvan Oaks Christian Church. 

 

Although we are disappointed, we are confident that the Lord has a plan for us.  We know we can stay in our current location next year; we just don’t know yet how much this is going to cost us!  In the long term, it may be that the Lord has something even better for us, and it could be that we just need to sit tight on our current property and see what the Lord has for us.   

 

We do know that our rent is going up significantly.  Even with the addition of a new Building Fee of $500 per family per year to cover the increased rent cost, we will still need to raise an additional $50,000-$75,000 per year for either location.  We would greatly appreciate your prayerful consideration of making a monthly pledge to help cover this amount.
